After beating Kushner 3-0 on Saturday night, SAR clinched a home playoff game in the first round of the playoffs against MDY. Early in the game, SAR’s top line of Jonathan Haims and Adam Freilich put the pressure on MDY’s goaltender. After a few shifts of constant pressure, Haims tipped in a point shot from Louis Tuchman, opening up the scoring. Haims tallied one more on the backhand later in the period. Although the score was only 2-0 after the first period, SAR dominated play. The second period was not as smooth for the Sting. Penalties by Alex Levy and Aytan Waxman forced SAR to kill a 4 on 2 power play. MDY could not sustain pressure as Adam Nayowitz played a key role on the kill. SAR scored one more in the period, on a wrist shot off the stick of Adam Freilich, ending the period with a 3-0 lead. SAR tallied 3 more goals in the third coming from Yamin Semer, Josh Cohen, and Jonathan Haims, completing his hat-trick. MDY scored a goal on a 2 on 1 rush down the court but it proved to be too little too late. SAR pulled off a 6-1 win and is headed to DRS on Wednesday night to face the undefeated Wildcats.
